New York Ticket Office
The customer's brief
The new TKTS booth in Times Square, New York, began construction in May 2006. After many challenges, the booth opened for business on October 16, 2008 on a renovated Duffy Square. The booth is wedge-shaped, with wide steps covering the roof, allowing pedestrians to sit down or climb the steps for a panoramic, unobstructed view of Times Square. As part of the development project, novograf was briefed to create a specialist film for the glass windows around the booth.
The novograf solution
novograf's challenge was to produce specialist internal window film displaying a ticket wording theme. The project had a few hiccups with the design agency who initially briefed novograf unfortunately going into administration. novograf then had to react quickly and communicate directly with the project managers in New York to complete the project on time.
This was a complex job with samples produced in varying colours and transparencies to meet the brief. Prototypes were then approved and a kit was manufactured and shipped to the States. Finally novograf liaised with the installers in New York to ensure the material was fitted correctly to delight New York's theatre goers.
The specialist window film was customised specifically for this job with fantastic image quality and durability.
Results
The Ticket Office now has fantastic windows which immediately grab visitors' attention, while still allowing visibility both inside and outside the booth.
