John Lewis

The customer's brief

John Lewis is known for its unique way of doing business, with 30 department stores across the UK it has 70,000 permanent staff who are the share holding partners. Its success is driven by these partners and the promise to its customers to never be knowingly undersold on quality, on price or on service. This promise has continued to prove popular with households across the UK since the partnership opened its first store in 1933.

When John Lewis changes its clothing lines the stores interior design can be affected. Keeping a store on brand and updated could have been problematic. novograf was able offer John Lewis a solution for the resurfacing of freestanding floor to ceiling columns. novograf's column solution allowed the visual appearance of any column to be changed without having to undertake any structural work, which would have been intrusive and time consuming.

The novograf solution

novograf has been the leader in brand presentation and surface refreshment solutions for over 25 years and it is this expertise and the complete service offering that makes novograf the best choice. novograf refreshed the surfaces of the stores existing columns with its trademarked product lamigraf™, whilst also supplying John Lewis with a service that took the project all the way from surveying the stores requirements, to an installation that didn’t disturb the stores opening hours.

lamigraf™ is just one of novograf's cutting edge trademark materials. For use in all high traffic areas lamigraf™ is a scratch and impact damage resistant flexible laminate that can be printed with any colour, image or to replicate any material and so can be matched to any interior or to meet any brand guideline. It has longevity compared to the alternative products available on the market and is quick to apply, as well as being PVC free which made it a perfect fit for John Lewis as an environmentally aware retailer.

With the stores busy during the day all installation took place at night so opening hours were not effected. Managed and installed by novograf's team each participating store was fitted within just 6 nights.

Results

The trial of novograf's solution in John Lewis’s flagship store in Oxford Street, London was a success and a national roll out followed. These stores now have interior columns that can be visually updated to any colour or image, as well as having protection and longevity. novograf has continued to offer its brand presentation and resurfacing solutions to John Lewis and is currently working on various projects including wall surface refreshment for John Lewis Home Stores.
